On March 6th, Eco Relics hosted a fundraising event to benefit Waste Not Want Not and their mission to fight hunger and poverty by rescuing food that would otherwise go to waste. We raised enough money to collect and distribute over 9,000 lbs. of food! The nonprofit Berry Good Farms food truck was also in the house.

Here’s a song from their set:
Waste Not Want Not
Waste Not Want Not is a volunteer organization that rescues food and supplies it to other charitable groups that distribute the food to people in need. Food rescue is a model of efficiency compared to the old-school food drive. A consumer purchases food for about two dollars a pound, but Waste Not Want Not converts one dollar into 14 pounds of food.

Berry Good Farms
Berry Good Farms is the horticulture division of the North Florida School of Special Education and offers students and post-graduates, 18 – 40 years of age, the opportunity to have hands-on training in horticulture studies, culinary arts, aquaponics, and production of agricultural goods.
…and a grand time was had by all! We’ll be doing more Eco Gives Back events in the future so stay tuned!
