The USGBC (U.S. Green Building Council NE. Fla.) Green Lion Festival is a festival that seeks to promote and elevate the awareness of green-focused businesses and organizations in Jacksonville, and Eco Relics is one of the sponsors.
This year the festival was moved to Downtown Jacksonville to coincide with Jacksonvilles First Wednesday Artwalk, where thousands of people converge on the downtown area, in and around Hemming Park and all along Laura Street.
About the Festival:
In 2013, three USGBC North Florida members — Glen Wieger, Carrie-Lynn Black and Hava Villavarde — met in San Marco to discuss ways to help “move the green needle” in Jacksonville. They developed an idea for a festival that brings local “green” organizations and businesses together in one place with all of the amenities that make any festival great — community, adult beverages and food!
In order to emphasize the local focus of the festival, which first took place at Aardwolf Brewing Company, they thought of the prominent lions in the San Marco Square which represent the area. Hence, the name of the festival was born- Green Lion Festival.
**This year the festival was moved to Downtown Jacksonville to coincide with Jacksonvilles First Wednesday Artwalk.
Green Lion Festival hopes to create a “Green Zone” at ArtWalk filled with local vendors, businesses, and non-profits that can answer all your questions about what is energy efficient, sustainable, eco/Earth friendly, impacting the local environment, and healthy living in North Florida.
