You wouldn’t believe some of the amazing things that come across our path. It has pushed us to get creative with the use of the antiques and salvage items we receive.
We have a buzzword that we use around here, “Retiquing”.
What is retiquing you ask?
This is the process in which we take an antique or old materials and repurpose them into something useable. Not everything that comes to us is able to be used without some work.
That is where our artists and builders come in. They take antiques, relics, and salvage materials and turn them into functioning works of art.
Can I buy repurposed antiques at Eco Relics?
Yes, you absolutely can purchase retiquing in Jacksonville. We are so excited to use creative methods to keep from throwing away materials that can be retiqued. When you visit our showroom, you will see some of the most unique ideas from repurposed antiques and salvage.
What kind of projects have you made from old materials?
We have had the privilege to make several different projects from old materials. Here are a few retiquing projects you can check out.
Antique Radiator Turned Into a Unique Light
There isn’t much use for an antique radiator these days. We couldn’t pass up this beautiful treasure because it had little functional value. For that reason, we decided to spruce it up a bit and make it useable.
This project turned out just as we had hoped. Now, it can be used along with making for an interesting topic of conversation.
- Cabinet Made From Old Wood
Don’t you love the colors from the wood we used in this repurposed piece of furniture? We think this turned out pretty amazing. In our minds, it would be a perfect addition to a kitchen or bathroom. Might even be a good cabinet to put in your bedroom. The beauty of what we do? We create it, and our customers get to decide how they will use it. Total win/win for us. - Framed Tin Ceiling Panels
This project is unique all the way around. We took old tin ceiling panels and framed them with pieces of salvage flooring. If we are going to retique, we are going all the way.We were pretty excited about these works of art. In fact, a lot of our customers really liked this idea and gave us great feedback about it. Cudos to our artists for putting it together. - Table Made From Old Wood Flooring
We love using wood flooring to make new items. Here is a great hallway table that we put together with salvage. I don’t know about you, but the twisted posts are what gives this table the character we were hoping for. - Countertop Made From Repurposed Wood
Here is a great project that we completed using salvage wood. This countertop has a great foundation for something truly beautiful. We like to leave it up to our customers to decide whether or not to paint the wood or leave it as is.
Can I retique salvage items I buy?
Absolutely! We are so happy to see the finished products that some of our patrons have completed. Check out this project below that was put together by an amazing customer.
They started with old doors and turned them into beautiful mirrors for their home. After painting the doors black, we added these pennies one by one to fill in the gaps. You can see how amazing it turned out.
